Heidi
Experience & Background
As a kid, Heidi was always wondering and thinking about the animals around her. Why her dog circled before lying down? Why do cats hide when they’re sick? That sort of curiosity led her to study zoology at Miami University in Ohio, where she earned her degree in 2003.
But she didn’t just want to know what makes animals tick. Heidi wanted to care for them. That’s why she enrolled at Bel-Rea Institute, earning her certification as a registered veterinary technician in 2009. Since joining Vista Animal Hospital in 2018, she has treated every patient like her own, offering gentle reassurance, a steady hand, and the kind of detailed care that keeps pets healthy and happy.
Personal Interests & Hobbies
Heidi shares her life with Ethel, a loveable cat who’s never met a lap she wouldn’t curl up to snuggle. Outside work, she enjoys creative and active hobbies, including drawing, painting, hiking, and the occasional karaoke performance. She also enjoys a good board game, especially when the competition gets lively.
Although she won’t admit it, we think Heidi loves a good adrenaline rush. She’s tandem skydived multiple times, savoring the thrill of free fall. She’s also snorkeled with hammerhead sharks in the Galápagos Islands. Some of her best memories are much simpler, like tossing a frisbee with her childhood dog, Pete, and experiencing the joy only a pet can bring.
Why I Love Working at Vista Animal Hospital
Heidi enjoys wearing many hats in a single day—nurse, surgical assistant, dental hygienist, and patient advocate—all in service of the pets and people who rely on her care. Whether guiding a family through their senior pet’s changing needs or ensuring a patient wakes up comfortably after a procedure, Heidi loves sharing her knowledge and providing compassion to pets and their human companions.
